Further Education for students aged 16-25 with Asperger’s Syndrome, autistic spectrum disorders and associated conditions.
Aims and philosophy
Priory Coleg North Wales provides a safe and supportive learning environment where young adults can explore their own experience of Asperger’s syndrome and develop strategies for managing their condition in their daily lives whilst attending a mainstream college locally.
With a dedicated team of staff, Priory Coleg North Wales provides every young person with a personalised programme of education, care, work experience, leisure and life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible and make their own life choices.
Support services provided
* Transition packages from year 9 for potential college students
* Continued and ongoing support with learning and life skills
* Individually tailored programmes for education, social and personal development
* Courses linked to external accreditation, leading to nationally recognised qualifications
* Specific resources and teaching strategies (e.g. alternative and augmentative communication, PECS, TEACCH, Makaton and BSL)
* Close working partnerships with Deeside College and Social Services
