Blossom Lower School & Upper House
Special needs catered for
Children whose special educational needs arise from difficulties with speech, language and communication. They may have associated difficulties with attention, motor skills and social interaction.
Specialist facilities
With the opening in 2012 of our post 16 provision, and our site in Euston, there are currently 220 pupils from the age of 3 to 19, and over 150 full and part time staff. In April 2015 the school moved again, to new and bigger premises in Motspur Park. Our pupils are now benefiting from more space and better facilities, with excellent local sports and outdoor facilities.
A generous staff/pupil ratio, classes of 10 or less. Specialist therapists for Speech & Language, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Music Therapy, Dance & Movement Therapy.
Home school links
The school aims to develop and maintain links with the home environment through visits to the school by parents. Reports, oral or written, are given to parents each term and a full Annual review is held. There are functions during the year to which parents are invited.
General environment
The school is located in Motspur Park and is housed in a group of buildings adapted for school use. A move to larger premises, enabling expansion into secondary education, is to take place in mid 2005.
Aims and philosophy
To provide a broad and balanced curriculum that is modified in terms of language, pace, style and delivery to meet the specific needs of pupils. We are committed to provide an environment where children can grow in knowledge and understanding, where thay can learn to accept that they are special and have a unique contribution to make to the school and to the world.
Staff qualification and selection
All staff are very carefully selected and national screening methods are employed. The teachers are all qualified with some having additional or further qualifications. Therapists all have professional qualifications appropriate to the their specialisms. Staff are encouraged to attend courses to continue their profession development.
