The school has a local community inclusion plan, which has been in operation for over 10 years, where we have developed integral partnerships with local schools and services to make the most of the local and regional community plans. These partnerships form part of the therapy hubs programme, where the school works with local primary and secondary schools to provide both counselling and therapy. This project and partnership are part of our inclusive work to support pupils in Muntham House School and within the local community.

General environment

The school is set in 23 acres of beautiful West Sussex countryside. The facilities across the school are state-of-the-art, supporting pupils to engage and enjoy their education and care.

Aims and philosophy

Muntham House School is a safe, caring and positive environment dedicated to supporting individual needs and seeking effective change in order to send children and young people forward into society. The school uses the national curriculum format and all of the national programmes for learning, tailoring these to be most beneficial to the way our young people learn and develop. As a special school our vision is to support and care for young people and their pastoral needs. The school has a full-time therapy department, and the young people are specifically and individually supported by 16 qualified and experienced staff. Pupils achieve exceptionally well at this school, working towards GCSE or BTEC qualifications. All pupils not only pass but also achieve good grades and go on to successful destinations after Muntham House School.

Staff qualification and selection

As a non-maintained school, Muntham follows the same practices as maintained schools and services. We, however, have an enhanced training programme that enables our staff to benefit from advanced research and training in SEND. All staff training is funded by the school, and all staff are expected to have the minimum requirements in their field before they arrive at Muntham. Our staff are highly qualified and experienced; most of our senior teachers, for instance, hold Master's-level qualifications. An excellent staff-to-pupil ratio exists, ensuring pupils are fully supported in Education and Care.
