Over the last couple of weeks, the young people in our Sensational Learning Centre set sail with the Seagull Trust for an unforgettable cruise experience! ⛵️
They embraced the open waters, and for some, the chance to steer the boat themselves! A huge thank you to the Seagull Trust for this incredible experience. 😄

Did you know that within our services, we provide support to a number of young people who are hearing impaired?
We believe that through education and raising awareness, we can break down the communication barriers that often prevent deaf people from fully participating in society.
That`s why we`re using Deaf Awareness Week as an opportunity to celebrate diversity, foster understanding, and work towards building a more inclusive world for everyone.
This week, Lee and Finlay from our Sensational Learning Centre hosted two ‘Lunch & Learn’ sessions teaching us the BSL alphabet and conversational sign. They both did an amazing job equipping both our staff and young people with the invaluable skills of BSL communication.

As it is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth the young people in our Sensational Learning Centre and Vibe service are exploring new ways to improve their mental wellbeing. One of which being Pony Therapy. 🐴
In a study by Hemingway (2019) horse assisted therapy offers a number of benefits including an increased feeling of calm and emotional control, especially among young people.
Over the last two weeks, @thehoofgangexperience visited us with their three therapy ponies, Sparkles, Willow, and Jasper. From strolls around the campus to pampering sessions with bows & hair chalk, our young people had an amazing time bonding with these gentle creatures. We’re thrilled that our new four-legged friends will be returning to our campus over the next few weeks. 🥳

#SupporterSpotlight ⭐️
A huge shoutout to the team at @evelynpartners for generously volunteering their time with us on Monday 📣
We loved seeing everyone roll up their sleeves and dig in to helping restore our outdoor classroom area.
And if that wasn`t enough, Evelyn Partners also kindly made a donation of £50 per volunteer. With 21 volunteers on the day, that adds up to an amazing £1,050 contribution to The Donaldson Trust. 👏

There is growing evidence that neurodiverse conditions are accompanied by mental health challenges.
This can be put down to a number of different factors, including differences in how you interact with the world and experience particular situations, which can lead to increased stress and anxiety. Or perhaps negative attitudes and a lack of understanding from others, which can lead to loneliness and feelings of isolation.
Our support services are designed to offer a friendly and warm environment where individuals can relax and be themselves, and Wellbeing activities are embedded to help to reduce anxiety and reduce stress.
This week, the trainees in our Gate service chose to host their own Wellness Day. They’ve been taking part in their favourite self-care activities such as painting their nails and making chocolate covered strawberries. 💅🍓

Meet The Team ⭐️
This week, we had the pleasure of catching up with Alison French, our new Adult Services Lead. Alison brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her on board.

Yesterday was a very exciting day at our Sensational Learning Centre as we had a special visit from our Community Police team. They led an insightful presentation focusing on crucial topics like online safety and stranger danger.
The young people were excited to try on the police uniforms, explore inside the police van, and yes, even turning on the sirens! 🚔 🚨
A huge thank you to our fantastic Community Police team for taking the time to visit us 👏
